Book Projects
In addition to my work as a clinical psychologist in group therapy at a mental health facility in the south part of Norway, and in addition to my work on the WebPhilosopher.net and the WebPsychologist.org, I have for many years written on various novels . I would love to publish a book some day, but so far I have no agreement with publishers or any plans for release on my own. I choose to put a small presentation for one of my projects on this site, hoping to find like-minded individuals who are interested in writing or might be interested in publishing my project. If you have any questions, suggestions or ideas regarding this project, please leave me a note here.
What if God is a bad idea? This project is currently on the drawing board, but the raw material in most chapters is in place and the structure of the book is more or less established. The WebPhilosopher is concerned with religious issues. The book is designed as short articles with a clear message and a focal point. Each chapter will try to scrutinise one particular aspect of religious belief from a rational and psychological point of view. In this project I will call for rational analysis, critical thinking and psychological mindedness. I this work I am very much inspired by outstanding professionals as Richard Dawkins, Daniel Dennett, Sam Harris and Christopher Hitchens. The question is whether religious beliefs are beneficial or harmful to the human intellect. The book will be about 30-40 chapters. The following chapters are more ort less complete:
- One God, many Gods or no God at all
- Charlatan in the name of God
- Evolution
- Free will
- God of the gaps and the rise of spiritualism
- Harmful spirituality
- Illusion and delusion
- Intelligent Design
- Religion vs. Science
- Religion as a murky affair
- Magical thinking and religious practices
- Harmful explanatory models on existential questions
- Illusions, disillusionment, knowledge and faith
- Understanding Prayer
- Harmful Spirituality
- Can atheists be moral and ethical?
- Which religion is right?
- Shadow Boxing – Can we comprehend the incomprehensible?
- Life after death
- Rights versus values
- What if we take the Book of Job seriously?
- Advantages and disadvantages of imagination
- God as the explanation of everything we do not yet know
- Why God Hates Technology
- Toxic Clarity
I have long had an idea and a desire to write this book together with a theologian. I imagine a dialogue between atheism and religion. I would very much like the above articles answered by arguments from a religious person. I suspect that a discourse like that could be rewarding in many ways. After all, our goal here at the WebPhilosopher is to expand our perspectives on the “web of life”.
At the WebPsychologist.org I have another book project in the field of psychology. Please take a look at our book project page in the psychology department.
Do you have any comments, suggestions, want to establish a collaboration, similar ideas, want to share experiences, or best of all, interested in releasing my project, please drop me a line here.
